About Us

Welcome to our lives. This is our story about hiking, camping, cooking, the out doors, cool vintage stuff, form and function ~ puppies, fires, friends, but most importantly, love and adventure. This blog is our sketch pad for all the things we like, find beautiful and want to share. More importantly it is a journal for us to look back on and remember those bright moments in our lives that we hope to never forget.

Thank you for stopping by. We hope you visit us again really soon.

About Him (Don)

I grew up in Oklahoma, with a family of not very outdoorsy people. They took me camping as much as they could. It must have made an impression because it has become the most important part of my life.

What are your passions?

I love climbing, hiking, backpacking, hunting, friends and fire. The feeling of transcendence in the outdoors as stereotypical as that is, and seeing others and sharing that moment with them makes it worth it.

Why all the old clothes and gear?

I love learning about the recent history of each area I travel to. I have been on a mid 20th century kick for a while. It is where I take my style and methods from currently. It is also the earliest time that can keep me alive in extreme conditions without to much worry. Who knows maybe I’ll be in hand sewn fur robes next.

About Her (Emily)

Fun Facts:

Did you know, our first date was for coffee & cupcakes. This seems reasonable for a first date, right? Our second date was a 3 day, 2 night camping trip to Devil’s Den state park in the middle of a rainstorm! Oh, if only I knew then that this was foreshadowing to the many crazy adventures we would share together. I’m so glad you chose me to go with you and I’m so glad I accepted your invitation.

What are your passions?

Moving my body through the art of dance.

I started a dance fitness movement and community when we lived in Colorado. Here, is where I found my true purpose in life- to bring people together to share in the experience of dance, while getting happy and healthy. Please check out our YouTube channel and dance with us!

I’m also a RD (registered dietitian). I care about eating healthy, trying new foods, cooking new recipes, and connecting with local farmers, artisan makers and communities.
